One day in January
It began fast, woolly hat and chit-chat
How long would it last, talking 'bout this 'n' that?
Drinks they went through, people they spoke to
Just a distraction for the attraction between those two
Needing to eat
No meat for her, just veggie burger
What's this about? Taking money out
A four digit number, will she remember?
A debt owed, more drinks followed
Just go, leave us alone
They disappeared, fear for
Scenario unprepared
An awkward time, just the sister
It's fine, keep talking
She walked in, looking good
Thinking he would
Take her places, see new faces
Re-tracing their paces, her undone laces
Tripping everywhere
Her eyes of blue and long blonde hair
A connection made
But the end of the day
He took the risk, gave her a kiss
They never looked back, the girl from Sask
Is still with me
Because of one day in January.
